JOB DESCRIPTION

WSET ABC 13 is seeking a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) for our Danville, Virginia bureau. Responsibilities include reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, developing story ideas, building contacts, and other duties as assigned. The MMJ will produce daily content across various platforms including the internet, social media, mobile phones, and television. ABC 13 emphasizes accountability and values strong enterprise storytelling, encouraging journalists to question government leaders. Danville is one of Virginia's fastest-growing areas, located along the Virginia-North Carolina border. It features a new Caesars Casino and is near Smith Mountain Lake, Raleigh NC, and Charlotte. The bureau includes two MMJs and a dedicated videographer. Skills and Experience: Strong news judgment Technical proficiency with Sony Cameras, LIVEU, and AVID editing software Experience in creating daily packages, live shots, and maintaining a strong social media presence Ability to work independently Valid driver's license and a good driving record Requirements and Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years reporting experience Experience with live shots Experience with Live-U is a plus Please include a link to your online demo reel when applying online.
